


SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under the general supervision of the 2nd shift CNC Supervisor, the CNC Machinist programs, sets up and operates CNC machining equipment to manufacture parts that meet customer specifications and company standards.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Two year vocational degree or one to three years equivalent experience with CNC equipment. Knowledge of approved methods, materials and tools used in the metalworking industry. A demonstrated potential to accept increasing responsibility with increasingly more complex CNC equipment.
COMPUTER SKILLS: Must be able to program CNC equipment or be able to learn to program it. Coordinate measuring machines. Must be comfortable with word processing software.
LANGUAGE, ORAL, WRITTEN AND LISTENING SKILLS:
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as set offs, proportions and percentages. Must be able to apply concepts of industrial math, including geometry and trigonometry.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The employee works in a manufacturing environment and will be exposed to dirt, noise, grease on hands and clothes, moving machinery, flying debris and splashed liquids. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS USED include the following: (Tools and equipment listed are some of the typical tools and equipment; other equipment may be used as needed.) Must be able to program and operate some CNC metalworking equipment. Must be able to operate some manual metalworking lathes, grinders, mills, saws and drill presses. Must be able to operate hand tools such as hammers, wrenches, drills, flat files, grinders and other deburring tools. Must be able to operate a forklift and manual QC measuring equipment and understand coordinate measuring machines. Must be able to use a computer and a scientific calculator.
